At what age should I bring my child in for consultation?
The American Association of Orthodontists recommends that children first see an orthodontist at age 7. Many times it is not necessary to begin treatment at that time. However, many orthodontic problems are easier to correct if detected early rather than waiting until jaw growth has slowed.

I am an adult. Can I still get braces?
Yes, age is not a factor, only the health of your gums and bone that support your teeth.

Orthodontic treatment can be successful at any age. Everyone wants a beautiful and healthy smile.
We offer non-traditional braces, such as Invisalign and lingual "hidden" braces specially designed for adults.

Is there a fee for consultation?
At our office, consultations are done as a courtesy at no charge.
Financial arrangements can be made before or after you begin treatment with our office.

How much does braces cost?
Our fee for full braces varies, depending on the nature of the problem.
The final fee includes everything - records, braces, all adjustments, and the retainers.
There is no hidden fee. We offer financial payment plan (Chase Health Plan) with option of no down payment and affordable monthly payments. We do not charge any interest.

Does my insurance cover braces?
As a courtesy to our patients, we will help you determine your orthodontic insurance benefits,
if any, and will bill your insurance company for you. Our staff will help in every way we can by filing your claim and handling insurance questions on your behalf.

How long do I need to wear my braces?
Generally, full orthodontic treatment takes anywhere from 12 to 28 months.
Each treatment plan is different, and the length of treatment may vary depending on severity of the correction necessary. Treatment length is also dependent upon patient compliance. Maintaining good oral hygiene and keeping regular appointments are important in keeping treatment time on schedule.

How often do I need to come in for adjustment?
We usually schedule our patients every 4-6 weeks, but this can vary depending on individual needs.

Do braces hurt?
Orthodontic treatment has improved dramatically. Once your braces are placed and tightened you may feel some soreness of your teeth for 1 to 4 days. This annoyance can be relieved with an over-the-counter pain reliever. Today's braces are much smaller, more comfortable and use technology that reduces discomfort.

Can I still play football, soccer and other sports if I have braces?
Absolutely. You can play football, baseball, basketball, or soccer. It is recommended, however, that you protect you smile by wearing a mouth guard when participating in any sporting activities.

Will braces interfere with playing musical instruments?
No. However, there may be an initial period of adjustment.
In addition, brace covers can be provided to prevent discomfort.

What types of braces do you have?
First, we haves metal braces, and many of our adolescent patients like to decorate them with different colored rubber bands. Then, we have ceramic, clear braces for older teens and adults. Finally, we have Invisalign and behind-the-teeth "hidden" braces for some who want completely invisible braces.

I am ready now! I am interested in braces. What do I do now?
Your first visit is for a consultation. Dr. Chung will do a preliminary examination to see if braces are necessary.
We can answer any additional questions you might have at this time. If you decide to have orthodontic treatment, diagnostic records can be taken at this appointment. These include x-rays, photographs and impressions of the teeth.
